The SMARTIE project works on security, privacy and trust for data exchange between Internet of Things (IOT) devices and consumers of their information. Results have been already demonstrated in several smart cities scenarios in Germany, Serbia and Spain. Further partners are from Portugal and the UK.
With a great technical contribution from University of Murcia (UMU-GSIT, leadered by Dr. Antonio Skarmeta), NEC and iHP among others, the vision of SMARTIE is to create a distributed framework to share large volumes of heterogeneous information for the use in smart-city applications, enabling end-to-end security and trust in information delivery for decision-making purposes, following data owner’s privacy requirements.
So a secure, trusted, but easy to use IOT system for a Smart City will benefit the various stakeholders of a smart city: The City Administration will have it easier to get information from their citizens while protecting their privacy. Furthermore, the services offered will be more reliable if quality and trust of the underlying information is ensured.
SMARTIE is based in the IoT-A reference architecture, supporting a security distributed architecture with great scalability. SMARTIE project result is vendor independent solution that can be integrate in any smart city platform , supporting several protocols; MQTT, COAP, Restful, Oauth2,….
Solution has been successfully tested in germany for Emergency and city traffic management scenarios, in Serbia for public transport solutions and in Spain for smart buildings and energy management. See deliverable section or further information.
CENTIC will support dissemination activities around Europe in the most important IOT events related to energy, smart cities, IOT and smart building in Europe. CENTIC will be also fostering the knowledge transfer to SME´s in a multi-sector environment with special focus to Industrial Internet (IOT/CPS).
This project with total budget of 4,862,363 €; has received 3,286,144 € funding from the European Union’s Seventh Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement No 609062.
